Carols at the Opera House

It certainly doesn't feel like Christmas but last night was an excellent experience.

7 of us went to the Opera House. Strolled to the Opera House in the sun, up the steps to the entrance and then out on to the terrace to watch the harbopur scenes and look at the cruise ships being towed away from port under the har4bour bridge. A nice chilled bottle of Chardonnay later and we were ready for the performance.

You then walk into the main concert hall, which holds about 2,500 people, to be presented with a very christmasy scene, christmas trees, sparkling candles and 16 of Sydney Operas best to sing carols and christmas arias. The show was presented by one of the local tv personalities - she presents playschool. The 2nd half of the concert had a few more childrens carols, inculding joey and santa - a carol about a joey 9baby kangaroo) who had lost his mum and asked santa for help. It involved a lot of clapping and people leeping around on stage. Anyway for the encore they invited about 50 or so kids on to the stage to jig around with them - a lovely sight and made you feel like Christams was actually here.

Afterwards went for a drink by the harbour and strolled back through town to enjoy the sidneysiders enjoying christmas - you will be pleased to hear that they get just as drunk and are just as obnoxious as we are!!

Today I've just continued the sightseeing, walked over the harbour bridge, visited the museum of Sidney and the Cathedral. Bit of a cludy day that has now turned to rain - but its still hot so very humid!

Tomorrow morning we are off at 7 to Ulluru.

If I don't post anything before Tuesday here is hoping you all have a fantastic Christmas - I will miss my Christmas dinner!!
