When I worked at Greenalls we divided the pubs into 3 divisions. Restaurants, city centre and pubs. The pubs division was the largest and also the least glamorous. Anyway a new Operations Director came along and decided to 'glam things up'. So he called the division 'Taverns' and started renaming pubs 'Famous ....'. So the Royal Oak became the Famous Royal Oak. Quite what it was famous for who knows.
In the last few days I've driven through 'historic this' and 'famous that' too many times to mention. I've also driven along the Grand Pacific Drive. Seems a desperate attempt by someone to claim something they are not. I think they should just call them ' Beautiful this..' - that would suffice and be more accurate.
Feel like I've driven for a long time over the last couple of days. Left Bright late on Sunday and drove 150 miles north towards Canberra. Then on Sunday completed the journey to Canberra by lunchtine. Sadly it inspired me about as much as visiting Miulton Keynes. SO drove out to the SNowy Mountains to watch the Australian Mountain Bike championships. Just got there to watch the downhill. From the bottom it looked a bit cissy but from above when looking down a bit more scary. Going over some of the jumps without being able to see the ground - which was bending away from you - was a bit more than I would do.
Left Canberra in the afternoon and rove to the south coast of Sydney to a place called Nowra - 350 miles that day!. Next day , Tuesday, I went into the Royal National Park , about 50 miles south of Sydney' and wandered around the bush. It was very lovely but very empty. Think they were all on the beach.
Today I've arrived in South Sydney (I give the car back tomorrow). I'm visiting Bondi beach as we speak as its one of the most iconic beaches in the world and the weather is gorgeous.
Its back to school this week for everyone - sixth formers tomorrow. So everyone is out on the beacj trying to get their last fix. Must be a very nice life living this close to a wonderful surf beach.
Sydney tomorrow. See you later.
