and the worlds your oyster, worlds stop singing ....... I never did learn the lines to Murray Heads song. However, I can imagine why he would sing a song about this place.
Arrived a little late on Friday and took a couple of hours to clear customs, get my bags etc.. Then had an eventful taxi ride into Bangkok. Its about 30km and it took 2.5 hours. The traffic was 1 long jam!! At one stage I nodded off - woke up and saw a gap of about 100 metres in front of us before the jam recommenced . Looking to my side to find the taxi driver had nodded off too. ........ (mental note.. stay awake to ensure safety.. although closing your eyes and praying is also a good strategy when they get a bit of free tarmac in front of them) .
Hotel is ok, although a bit basic. Last night I got the only room on my floor without a window - it was like being in a cell. Because of time difference, struggled to sleep, woke up at 3am, fell asleep again at 5am and then woke again at 10am having missed breakfast. doh...
I've met up with some of my party - there are 15 of us. Tomorrow a tour of the Grand Palace (it looks impressive) , a longboat tour of the canals and a walking tour of Chinatown. Then off to Chiang Mai via the overnight sleeper train - from where I will update the blog again.
And I didn't eat all of the mince pies - mum had some and 4 of them accompanied me on my trip!!!

You need to be careful in Bangkok or you might have to get used to those rooms that look like cells.
Also what was the sympathy vote all about, feeling lonely at Heathrow, Vicky says she doesn't do sympathy.
Hope you have a great tour over the next few days.

We had the other four Mince Pies with Thursdays tea, there were only three of us so not sure who had the Fourth probably Los.
Glad to hear you have arrived Safely, traffic out east is a bit precarious. Keep your hand over your drink in the bars too...
Thursday night announced our Project to the Girls, told them we would also be tracking Jo. Respoonse was but if Jo's going does that mean we get Cathy. Lots of cheers when I told them no, as I am now officially warranted.
Glad to here you have met up with your group, safety in mumbers. So what are they like?

Glad to hear you arrived safely in Bangkok.
Better to be hot and sticky than cold and wet. Hope you have a good time and get on with your travel companions.
I ate all the pies.
See you soon
